Physiotherapy and COVID-19

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

A controversial week in the physiotherapy world this has been. My feed is flooded, half with physios adamant that their clinic will stay open and the other half begging their colleagues near and far to listen and close their clinics for the good of all communities.

While economic hardship is likely for all, including myself, we cannot jeopardize the safety, wellbeing and health of our patients. Telehealth is the safest way forward. While online consultations may be challenging and new, we thankfully live in a technology-filled world with these exciting platforms to explore! Exercise is increasingly becoming the way forward for physiotherapy. These exercises can be easily taught, progressed or indeed regressed over video means. We all have this technology in our pockets 🤗

Our patients will be treated to the best of our current ability and our profession will survive 💪🏻

We can’t put health at risk and jeopardise the more vulnerable in our community while equally calling ourselves health practitioners, can we?

My aim, over the next little while is to help where I can. To provide some *general advice* and exercise through this platform to assist, for example, to reduce non-specific pain or muscle tightness. To give some new workout ideas. To inspire through provision of virtual exercise and the resulting endorphins. I’ve always been an advocate for home exercises, imagination is the only limit 😊

Stay healthy, be kind. And consider the people you’re protecting when you stay home from your consultation 🥰
